Who We Are

Timber Hill Christian Church is a church family rooted in Christ and committed to following Jesus together. We are a community of believers who seek to grow in faith, love people well, and live out the Gospel in everyday life.

We believe church is not just a place to attend, but a family to belong to.

Our Mission

Our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ by teaching God’s Word, encouraging spiritual growth, and living out our faith through service, prayer, and sharing the Gospel.

Everything we do flows from a desire to honor God and help people take their next step of faith.

What We Believe

Preface: The Gospel of Jesus Christ is one of love, hope, redemption, and salvation. God reveals Himself and His plan for our salvation through the unfolding story of the Bible. The Bible is a cohesive story that culminates in the person and work of Jesus Christ (John 5:39). Through this story, the following teachings emerge as the foundational principles. These teachings form the core of Christian belief and doctrine.

There is one true God, eternally existing in three Persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. These are equal and are one God. God created the world out of nothing, and by His power, He sustains all He has made. He is unchanging, absolute, supreme, and He alone is worthy of worship (Exodus 20:3-4; Romans 8:22-25; Ephesians 1:13-14; James 1:17).

Jesus is the promised Messiah and the fulfillment of Scripture (Matt 5:17). He was miraculously born of the Virgin Mary (Matthew 1:20; Luke 1:35) and became flesh and blood (John 1:1-16; 29-34) without ceasing to be God. He lived a sinless life and performed many miracles to confirm his divinity. He died on the cross as a perfect sacrifice, paying the debt for our sins (Mark 10:45). On the third day after his death, he arose from the dead, showing his victory over sin and death (1 Corinthians 15:3-8). He appeared to his disciples and then ascended into heaven, where he now sits at the right hand of God, serving as our mediator.

The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son. He makes people aware of their need for Christ (John 16:8-11, 2 Corinthians 6:11). He indwells and empowers the believer (I John 4:13; Gal. 5:16-26). His presence in our life is a seal and guarantee that we are God’s children (2 Cor. 1:21-22). The Holy Spirit gives believers spiritual gifts (talents or abilities) (1 Corinthians 12:7-11; Romans 12:4-8) to be used to help others and advance the kingdom of God.

The Bible is the inspired Word of God and is the final authority in life and doctrine (2 Timothy 3:16). The Bible is a collection of writings comprised of various literary genres (i.e., epistle, historical, poetry, etc.). Although numerous authors across several generations penned the words, we believe the content, meaning, and purpose are orchestrated by the Spirit of God for God's glory.

God created mankind as a singular act (not through evolution). Mankind is unique among all creation as image-bearers of God (Gen 1:27). They were given dominion over the earth (Gen 1:28). They willfully rebelled against God and were, consequently, removed from his presence in Eden (Gen 3). Their sin brought death into reality (Romans 6:23). The hearts of all people are “desperately wicked” (Jeremiah 17:9). Thus, mankind is unable to return to God’s presence through any merit or human accomplishment (Eph. 2:8-9).

God will execute justice against all sin, which will ultimately result in eternal separation from Him in Hell. “Saved” means rescued from the consequences of our rebellion against Him and thus saved from God’s wrath. Salvation is a gift of God. The death of Christ on the cross is the only sufficient payment for our sins. All have sinned, but all can be saved. This salvation is available for anyone who puts their trust in Christ as Savior (Romans 3:23, 6:23; John 3:16). Those trusting Christ will repent of sin, confess their faith, be baptized, and strive to live for Jesus every day (Romans 10:9; Acts 2:38, Philippians 3:14). In short, they will seek to be pleasing to the Father.

The church is the body and bride of Christ on earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit to continue the task of reaching the lost and maturing the saved, helping them become fully devoted followers of Christ – disciples (Ephesians 4: 1-16).

Christ will one day return and judge all people (1Thessalonians 4:13-18). Unbelievers will be separated from God’s presence in Hell, and believers will be welcomed in God’s presence in Heaven (Matt 25:31-46).

We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost; the saved to a resurrection of eternal life and the lost to a resurrection of damnation and eternal punishment (1 Corinthians 15:51-57; Revelation 20:11-15).

We believe God’s plan for human sexuality is to be expressed only within the context of marriage. God created man and woman as unique biological persons. God instituted monogamous marriage between male and female as the foundation of the family and the basic structure of human society. For this reason, we believe that marriage is exclusively the union of one genetic male and one genetic female (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:5-6; Mark 10:6-9; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9).

We believe that human life is intrinsically sacred created by God as unique among His creation. Therefore, the value of life is not tied to function or ability. We believe that the Lord has commanded us to have concern for the physical and spiritual needs of our fellowman (Psalm 139:13; Isaiah 49:1; Jeremiah 1:5; Matthew 22:37-39; Romans 12:20-21; Galatians 6:10).
